The gate is aesthetically pleasing first and foremost. Second, the gate is literally 24" wide, is adjustable, and is extremely sturdy. The height is 24", which is fairly low, but I made it work. I am containing a Pit Bull puppy with it, and it works. You have to (first) raise it about 6" above the floor, than lock it on the farthest possible link. This may not seem like it will work at first because it may seem like there is resistence, but this is the only way to get the gate to hold properly. In a nutshell, what I'm suggesting is that you overadjust it, it worked great for me. I returned another gate that I'd previously purchased because the puppy kept hitting in at the top (he knew it was the weakest point), and no matter how hard he bangs this one, he cannot knock it down. Lastly, if you have a very large dog that jumps, or a child that climbs, this gate is probably too low, but for me this will still work as the puppy grows, because the taller he gets, the higher I will raise it from the floor. As long as he cannot crawl or fit underneath it, it will keep him contained. I hope this review helps.

Better than expected Apr 20, 2012
By tay I was actually pretty surprised at the quality of this product. Ive bought a few of these wooden 'mesh' style gates in the years that I've had a dog and this one is much nicer than all the others. It's actually pretty stylish and looks great next to our hardwood floors.

By E. Mcnair Works good so far. Bought something similar from walmart for $10. I had to wedge cardboard inbetween the wall & the gate. My pups tore up the cardboard & knocked the whole gate down. So when this one came in I made it a little bit longer than the width of the hallway & it fits perfectly. They haven't knocked it down yet.

This gate is very nice...it looks nice and is very functional. It stands up to my two dogs just fine. The only complaint I would have is that it took FOREVER to get here...I mean, WEEKS! But we have it now and are very happy!

Great gate, packaging was horrible... Feb 08, 2012
By mostly gifts The gates are great!! They're so pretty and they hold up well! I bought two of them and so far (2 weeks in) they are holding up great! I have 5 kids, and the wooden one that I bought 8 years ago was finally giving out... So I am giving the bamboo one a shot. If it fails me, I'll down grade my stars, but for now, they're great!
Although they weren't damaged when they arrived, they should have been packaged better. The first thing they could have done was to mail them together. That would have solved my problem, but for those of you who order just one, they need better fitting boxes. Anyway, NO DAMAGE so no negative stars!
