Good alternative to disposable wipes May 11, 2009
By Mr. Shush I've been using these wipes (with the warmer) for about a week now and thought I'd give my $0.02. The warmer itself is great and very simple to set up and use (even at 3 AM). The wipes seem to be a controversial item, however. I like them. I like them a great deal better than disposable wipes. My son seems to like the fact that they're warm (although he's not too fussy about the cold disposables) and they clean him considerably better than the disposables do (I have yet to need more than one cloth warmie where I've needed several disposables). They are, however, somewhat fragile, but I've got a few suggestions for dealing with that. First, don't throw them in the dryer. I don't care what the label says. It isn't necessary anyway. You're just going to moisten them before you put them in the warmer anyway, so take them right from the washer, wet them with the formula of your choice (I like the water/baby wash/olive oil formula included in the package) and put them back in the warmer. Second, make sure you don't wash them with anything that has velcro on it. I guarantee you a cloth will get stuck to the velcro and will get torn up when you pull them apart. Other than that, I haven't had any problems with them and am really pleased not to be adding the crazy amounts of wipes my kid was going through to landfills.

Great warmer, mediocre wipes Mar 08, 2009
By M. Sher When I started cloth diapering my baby I thought a wipes warmer was a needless luxury. I was wrong. Using cloth wipes, I was constantly waiting at the sink for the water to get even remotely non-icy. Using this, wipes are already wet and warm and ready to go, including when I need multiples for a really big mess. The wipes seem fresh and I have had no problems with moisture escaping and ruining the changing table.
I will say however, that the wipes that came with the warmer are a bit useless. The care tags on them actually say to wash on gentle and not tumble dry. I do not have time to treat these wipes specially, and they shrank a lot and got much harder when I washed them normally. Also, one immediately snagged on a velcro diaper cover and pulled a big run in the terrycloth. I am using other wipes in the warmer and am very happy.

A Must-Have and Great for Cloth Wipes! Sep 16, 2009
By VeganGem Works great, easy to use. I use cloth wipes, which fit perfectly, stay very warm and plenty moist. I'd definitely recommend this item! This warmer came with 5 free bamboo wipes, which are very, very soft. (But I don't use them. Instead I use the 2-sided terry cloth wipes I bought at Green Mountain Diapers and at Blue Penguin, since they fit perfectly and don't require any folding, like the bamboo ones do.) In this warmer, you can use water--definitely use distilled, so you don't get any mineral deposits. Or you can make your own wipes solution. (I've found that a weak vinegar solution works the best--8 parts distilled water, 1 part vinegar. It's all-natural, cheap, convenient, and prevents/controls yeast diaper rash.) This warmer also comes with a moist pad to keep wipes from getting too dry, and it seems to do the trick. Mine have never dried out or turned brown. Overall a Must-Have! I can't imagine my nursery without this warmer! Cold diaper wipes just seem cruel--especially during a middle-of-the-night diaper change. Who wants to be awoken like that!

Great for cloth diapering Sep 08, 2009

My mom insisted that we purchase this, and we are glad we did - we absolutely love it! I don't bother with rolling up the cloths, or making "solution" - I filled it with water, and keep a stack of washcloths nearby to dip in at each diaper change. As long as you only dip clean washcloths, the water stays fresh. The wipes that come with the warmer are silly (they are TINY, and fall apart in the wash), but soft while they last. I just use the thin baby washcloths (gerbers sells multi-packs) or regular white washcloths (bought in bulk from Ikea). I like that I don't have to go into the bathroom before each diaper change, or wait for the tap water to heat up. Then we throw the washcloths into the laundry with the dirty cloth diaper. Its great!

Essential for Cloth Diaperers (or Wipers!) Jan 10, 2011

Nothing short of a bath cleans a baby's bottom more thoroughly than cloth wipes with warm water and some sort of solution. This warmer makes the process quick and convenient!
The ONLY reason I give this 4 stars instead of 5 is the obnoxious "night light" that glows from the front. The thing is SO bright that we have to keep it covered at night. I keep meaning to get electrical tape or something to cover it because it's so glaring.
As other reviewers have commented, the bamboo wipes that Prince Lionheart makes are garbage. They fray almost immediately. We use the flannel/terry wipes from Green Mountain. I make a solution of filtered water, witch hazel and Kissaluvs Diaper Lotion Potion, Concentrate in a bowl. Then I plunge the wipes in and roll them one at a time, squeezing the excess water out at the end before popping them in the warmer. The warmer holds about 20 at a time, which will get me through 2 days or so. Then I wipe out the warmer and make a new batch.
We have not had any issues with mold and only scorched the pad once when I let it get dry (oops!). The anti-microbial pad is an important part of controlling mold spores, so do not take the other reviewer's advice and throw it away! You need to use it and replace it every so often.
I might add that all things diaper-related are easier when you fully commit to cloth, rather than just doing the wipes. You only need one bin at the changing station, laundry is quick and easy, and your baby's bottom is all around happier! Green Mountain has tons more info on their site, which I highly recommend.
