5Wonderful bottles  Apr 06, 2011 By Moragami
Dr. Brown's bottles came very highly recommended by several of my friends. Despite their recommendations, I decided to try another brand of bottles. We very quickly switched to Dr. Brown's for a few reasons. My daughter did not like the other bottles but did great with accepting Dr. Brown's. She had to take bottles directly out of the hospital due to weight loss but transitioned well back to the breast. The part that is especially great about the bottles is that they have the same threading to work with Ameda and Medela breast pumps. I have personally used them with my Ameda Purely Yours Ultra pump.

If you use them with the Ameda pump, the one draw back is that the bottle is narrower than Ameda. As a result, when empty the flange is heavy enough to make them tip over and they do not fit snugly into the bottle holders on the top of the pump. Otherwise they work great.

4Better than other bottles we've tried  Feb 02, 2010 By ockeghem
As with most things touted as a miracle cure for your baby, the hype is a bit overblown. This bottle does help but doesn't end reflux altogether.

My three-month-old daughter has had reflux issues since she was born. She's almost exclusively breastfed, except for one or two bottles a day of expressed milk. I thought I'd give the Dr. Brown's bottles a go, after feeding her from Born Free and Medela bottles with no discernible difference in her spitting up. With the Dr. Brown's bottles, we did find that she spits up slightly less. Does she still spit up? Sure -- just not quite as much.

I wash these bottles in the dishwasher (top rack), and haven't had a problem with them leaking. Yes, there are a number of pieces that have to be cleaned for each bottle, but there are no more pieces than the Born Free bottles, and in the dishwasher it's not a big deal. And even the times I've washed them by hand, having to wash a few pieces and use the enclosed brush hasn't been onerous. If she were exclusively bottle-fed and I didn't have a dishwasher, I can see where these bottles might seem like a pain, but otherwise they aren't that time-consuming.

A lot of the comments on the Dr. Brown's bottles seem to come down to a question of parenting style. If you're the type of parent who values convenience above all things because you're dealing with a needy baby, especially if you don't have a dishwasher, you may well dislike the Dr. Brown's bottles (my friends in this camp rave about the Playtex dropins). If you're instead the type of parent who doesn't mind an extra minute or less loading the dishwasher and an extra 5 seconds in assembling a bottle, if it means your child with reflux will spit up a bit less, I recommend trying one of the Dr. Brown's bottles to see if it helps your baby.

5Only bottle that works for my breastfeed baby  Jul 07, 2010 By L. Sito
Though more expensive than other brands this is worth every penny. My daughter will not use any other bottle. Do NOT listen to the complants of leaks as long as you use all the parts together, this works well and has never leaks. It has a positive pressure that keeps bubbles out of babys belly and baby and mom happy. I wish I would have bought these before all the other ones.

5Relieved my baby from gas trouble.  Apr 16, 2012 By Prashant Khanna
No more colic calm. This just worked well from my baby who use to keep taking in a air during her feeds. It has made huge difference to her stomach aches due to gas/air intake, after switching to these bottles.

2Hard to clean and leaks!!!  Apr 14, 2012 By E. Curbow
My wife and I originally purchased the Dr. Brown's bottles to help with our daughter's colic. I am not entirely sure if they helped, but my daughter did seem to have less problems with gas. We have now had the bottles for about 3 months and they all seem to have started leaking badly. If you use these bottles, fully expect to have to replace them every couple of months. Also...for those not aware of the Dr. Brown's system, it uses two extra pieces to "assist the flow of air" within the bottle. As the one cleaning the bottles, I quickly noted how hard these parts are to clean (since they have small holes that formula can get trapped in). It is not completely accurate to say that they are hard to clean, but fully expect your bottle cleaning time to double. Also, one of the parts is a rubber ring that goes between the bottle and the nipple. My experience has been that this is the problem with the leaking...basically, you have twice the cracks to seal when tightening the bottle, and if one of those spaces is slightly warped or has a little bit of formula between it and the opposing surface...you will get a leak.

My wife and I now have to use a cloth under the bottle to catch the nearly constant drip from the leaks. We have ordered Nuk bottles to try next (since our daughter is out of the colic age), and I hope we have better luck with them.
